Forest Fire Assistant was officially presented in Sardinia as part of the European FIRE-RES project, developed within the framework of Open Innovation Challenge 45 for the Living Lab Sardinia. This state-of-the-art web platform integrates real-time environmental monitoring, technical analysis and effective communication for wildfire prevention and control.
The implementation includes two strategically located weather stations: one at the Fenosu helicopter base of the Forest and Environmental Surveillance Corps (CFVA), for continuous monitoring and operational visibility, and another at the Is Arenas Golf Club, to validate the effectiveness of communication with private communities. The system turns the territory's data into useful alerts for decision-makers.
Its main capabilities include: continuous climate surveillance, early identification of risk situations, alerts tailored to specific risk profiles, and an integrated communication platform that improves coordination between response teams and communities.
This implementation is part of the 34 innovative initiatives that FIRE-RES is developing through Living Labs across Europe, focused on comprehensive wildfire management (prevention, preparedness, detection, response, recovery and adaptation) through new tools and methodologies.
